For years, I practiced making my own holistic/organic products in my kitchen. It was great fun, but when it came time to deliver them to people in mass quantities, the realization of labor involved was too much to continue with my other jobs, so I found a manufacturer who subscribes to the same ideas I do - and began Jentri Quinn Makeup + Skin, to create products that are all-natural combined with true active ingredients, that don't test on animals or use parabens.
A lot of the time I recommend products in between services to maximize the benefits of my client's professional services and home care regimen. When you commit to using professional-grade products that are customized to your needs, the chance of you having great results is improved. I don't subscribe to one line for EVERYTHING, so that's the way I practice; using high quality products from a few reputable lines (i.e. Aveda, Control Corrective, Murad) which I'm well trained in, including my own.
In my Jentri Quinn Makeup + Skin line, I carry a select number of results-oriented products to help my clients, without the big expense (all under $35) hiked up hundreds of dollars by my competitors. I'd rather my clients have quality products that I know a lot about, than spend $$$$ on random products with little/no results. That won't improve their services with me, or their home care results.
However, when you do buy good quality products, I recommend you USE them. The last thing I want you to do is waste your money. So if they're not hurting your skin and they're of good quality, I recommend getting the most out of your investment, until it's gone.
