Estheticians considering private label cosmetics manufacturers

This one's for all my skin care professionals out there considering private label cosmetics.  I've been racking my brain over this for months now... investing in myself vs. investing in another brand I know I already love to sell to future clients. I was advised from a very successful and respectable esthetician to invest in a brand I already know because to customize a brand is $$$$. She was right. I looked into it, and it cost about as much to customize something as it does to invest in a whole line of something (just starting out).

Generally, independents will purchase products wholesale, and be able to make 50% profit. That is, considering you have someone to sell products to. Another important tip the esthetician brought to my attention. I had decided that I would go with an established line and had narrowed it down to two: Eminence Organics (I luuuuuve) and Sanitas Skin Care (highly recommended to me in Boulder area).

Sanitas requires you to have a minimum purchase of $1500, and they didn't offer to let me try a lot of their products first... they said I could come in to speak with a rep and maybe get a couple of samples at that time. I emailed the Eminence rep, but we never actually spoke, however I'm pretty sure their minimum order would've been much more, considering they're all organic. (Still love you, Emi!)

Then, I was in my chemical peels certification class ( btw, you have to have an additional certification in CO to perform peels, and in TX you don't) and another esti apprised me of a line they use in their spa - Botanical Sciences. When I found out it was private label as well, I shared this info with my Texas boo/esti, Clare, and we began checking out others like it. Turns out, with BS, all you have to do is register on their site, and as long as your a legit professional, they'll send you a lot of awesome samples/literature about their products. And guess what, they'll do private label products for a $100 minimum!!! WOOT!

I highly recommend you checking them out & going this affordable route, if you are considering marketing yourself, and aren't married to a particular line.  You can choose which formulations you like, and order from them direct. If you need logo services, etc., they can assist with that, too. Then they mail you your products and you put your own label on them. Simple as that.

Good luck, Esti's!

This article has some great information. I use www.privatelabelkings.com for my products and they're great. From product labeling, to product selection, and even Amazon marketing advice. Oh by the way they have some of the best pricing in the industry. Hope this helps some of you new sellers, cheers!
